Truong My Lan, a businesswoman who chaired a sprawling company that developed luxury apartments, hotels, offices and shopping malls, was arrested in 2022.

Pakistan on a killing spree

October 6, 2015: A death row convict has been sent to the gallows at the Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore on early Tuesday morning, Dunya News reported.

According to details, death row prisoner Idrees was executed for killing a man in 1997.

Idrees' dead body was later handed over to his relatives.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted the moratorium on the death penalty on December 17, 2014, a day after Taliban gunmen attacked a school in Peshawar and killed 134 students and 19 adults. The killings put pressure the government to do more to tackle the insurgency.

October 3, 2015: A triple murder convict named Muhammad Akram was executed in the Sahiwal Central Jail. 

He had killed his wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law over a domestic feud in 2002.

Two death row convicts were hanged in the Central Jail of Faisalabad on October 1, 2015. 

Shoukat and Ikhlaq had killed two brothers, Tariq Javed and Zafar Iqbal, in 2001

Since the de facto ban on capital punishment ended on 17 December 2014, at least 246 people, including twenty-five convicted terrorists, have been executed across the country.
